Tasteful Delights

Malaysia is a food haven. The best way to sample the delights is to let your local friends help you to check them out. A gastronomic paradise showcasing the best of Malay, Chinese, Indian and Western cuisines, Malaysia will whet your tastes like never before.

The three main ethnic groups cuisines

Malaysia has often been described as a haven for food lovers both local and abroad. The cuisine reflects the country’s multi-ethnic population where the signature dishes of various ethnic groups have soared to even greater heights thanks to the multiple ethnic influences that are uniquely Malaysian. The three main ethnic groups - Malay, Chinese and Indian - provide most Malaysians and tourists with their fill but for food connoisseurs, they can also choose from a number of different styles as well such as Western, Nyonya, Portuguese, Thai and more. Several international fast food chains operate here as well, a perfect complement to the local food bazaars and road side stalls.

1) Malay

Malay food is flavourful as it utilises a rich mixture of spices and herbs. Malay dishes can be distinguished into a few methods of cooking namely masak merah (tomato sauce), masak lemak (coconut milk), masak asam (sour-ish tamarind) and masak pedas (spicy). Some of the popular dishes that you wouldn’t want to miss include nasi lemak (coconut milk steamed rice), sambal belacan (shrimp paste with pounded chillies), beef rendang (dried beef curry), satay (barbecued skewered meat) and serunding (meat floss).

2) Chinese

Chinese food in Malaysia is derived from mainland Chinese cuisine but has been influenced by local ingredients and dishes from other cultures in Malaysia though it remains distinctly Chinese. Popular dishes among locals and tourists alike include dim sum, sweet and sour dishes, char siew (sweet barbecued pork) and bak kut teh (herbal soup).

3) Indian

Popular for their curries, banana leaf rice and breads such as chapathi, naan and roti (called prata in some countries), Indian food has been assimilated with Malay food through mixed marriages among Indians and Malays, resulting in what is locally known as mamak (Indian Muslim), which cannot be found in India itself. Mamak restaurants can be found all over Malaysia, especially in the peninsula, and are patronised till the wee hours of the morning by people from all walks of life.

Limkokwing Creativity Library

re-12

The unique library occupying three floors presents the university’s achievements and its founder’s contributions over three decades. It traces local and international campaigns and projects undertaken by the university in fields such as peace promotion, international relations, humanitarian cause and creative communications.

One World Club

One World Club is a recreation club for students with a most unique setting based on the theme of recycled junk art. It is where creative minds from all corners of the world interact and learn from one another.

re-16
re-15

Junk can be recycled to make amazing art pieces. This is clearly demonstrated to a point of brilliance at One World Club. Designed to be Cyberjaya’s hottest recreational haunt, the club blends in with the rest of the Limkokwing campus in theme and tone. Dark colours dominate and exquisitely crafted sculptures that make up the main centrepiece stand in stark contrast. At the same time, they fuse splendidly with the background.

These display items are original works executed by Limkokwing students, who are equally adept at creating a distinctive style of furnishing and interior decoration. The One World Club provides a unique ambiance for students to relax, network, play pool or foosball or use the internet. Students are allowed to bring in food and beverages that have been purchased from Wings Cafe.
